I was at a meeting last night where two international charity projects were discussed and videos of their work shown. One was The Wheelchair Foundation which provides wheelchairs to mobilise people worldwide where they have no hope of funding themselves click here and the other was Impact click here where the main thrust of the fundraising was to fit out a donated train in India as a mobile operating theatre to reach isolated areas and for example restore mobility to children left crawling about on all fours after suffering polio. If you think our NHS is a joke - you should have seen these videos! We should be damned grateful for what we do have in this country and get things in perspective.

thought advertising charities was banned from forum - will get post deleted

along with your sense of humour

  Al94 10:28 22 Sep 06

Can't actually see the humour in it Sethhaniel. Yes, fair point about the post, shouldn't have put the links in it - I'm not advertising the charities (to which I have no connection)merely sounding off about those whingers who never stop complaining about the NHS, they should stop to look at how they would fair in other parts of the world. To see people walking 300 kilometers to one of these trains carrying badly deformed kids whose quality of life can be improved by relatively minor surgery brings it home to me how fortunate we are!

Sorry for sounding off lisa02 - enjoyed your post!

I actually work for the NHS and have done so for 20+ years and like all big concerns they have their foibles - and a lot of employees will see that and the humour in it....

I think if everyone went off on that track a lot more people would be offended by the original post

Barium..............What doctors do when patients die.

Which with the losing of a good friend & Dr who's funeral is on Monday I could take exception too -
but the post is in a 'light vein' and should be taken in that

What do you make of this then. Been off work this week a Wry neck!

  rezeeg 13:35 22 Sep 06

Didn't know that Dr. Who was dead ;-))

  Al94 14:25 22 Sep 06

  Hertz Van Rentyl 16:19 22 Sep 06

Think its was this chap

  Sethhaniel 20:54 22 Sep 06

Dr who's should read Dr. - who's funeral - the forum had the decency to break the link from it to 'Dr WHO'
