From The Times:

"More than 1,700 staff are getting a “forecast accuracy” bonus of about £650 each".

I am sure few of us would agree with the accuracy of the met offices forecasts over the last three years.

This means a total of over £1.1 million of public money is being handed out for questionable results.

that they do a bit more work than appear on the news just after 6 o'clock.

I assume that like many jobs in the private sector, performance is linked to doing your job right.

Obviously some have done that and I wish them well. Thanks for earning your corn.

just wish that they'd stop paying that crass Pratt Jeremy Clarkson.

Now there's something to main about.

How come they get 'Bonuses' as well ?
Silly me, I always thought that that's what wages are for - doing your job.

I expect he'd make the most accurate weather forcasts "in the world".

the Met office exceeded its forecast accuracy targets for the year 2007/2008 in each of the four categories on which performance is measured.

11 cities maximum temperature

11 cities minimum temperature

11 cities probability of rainfall

Numerical weather prediction index.

Surely people are employed by the Met Office with the required qualifications to ensure accuracy or am I missing teh obvious?

Last I heard Jeremy Clarkson worked for the BBC, not the MOD, so he has absolutely nothing to do with this topic...
