Is it the end of speed cameras

With some councils not funding the use of speed cameras will the police have to resort to using the prehistoric hand held cameras to catch people speeding.

talk of them going to private tender, the worst option.

I was against Speed Cameras. Their very aggravating when you get caught and have the potential to remove ones livelihood.

My preferred system would be a combination of those Electronic Warning Signs, the ones that give your speed and a "Thank You" if you are below.

And Officers, with the hand held Speed meters at danger points.

SIPS seems to be a sensible system, as well, but very expensive to set up, so I am told.
