Intel embraces Linux (at last!).

A small but perhaps significant move by Intel, that allows a Linux vendor to supply a Linux based laptop with the Centrino logo. click here

It did cross my mind, that maybe some pressure from major vendors in the USA have lobbied Intel to allow the marketing ploy, but perhaps I'm in a world of fantasy! Maybe the official line is indeed the reason behind the move.

However, if you think about the likes of Dell, HP and so on, if Walmart (as one of my previous threads discussed) are offering very cheap machines with Linux installed, complete with Open Office etc. just maybe these manufacturers want to have the option of offering a Centrino Linux laptop as a competitor in that market?

Often, there are more to these seemingly innocent announcements than at first meet the eye!

Damn! The secrets out the bag now, everyone'll want it.

Seriously though, interesting article, Linux is getting better all the time.
