The Broomielaw - Glasgow.

That's not a "nice" lump of water. In those days it probably stank.

Quickbeam, Well Done, Quayside (Sunday Morning) Newcastle on Tyne.

So crowded it must be a big city riverside dock - London or Liverpool?

  Quickbeam 22 Mar 13

I worked there for 3 years 20 years ago, it's a lot different now, but it has the feel of the place, probably jolted from pub photos of old Newcastle.

It's not often that I get far with the bloody quiz, and I didn't have to mention dogs or doughnuts:)

If that's Newcastle on a sunday I would nae like tae see it oan a Sa'urday ;o]

There's a couple of images of that quay in this link, the photographer has unusually had his back to the famous Newcastle cityscape of the Tyne bridges.

Newcastle is one of those cities that's easy to feel at home in, very earthy, and there is a Newcastle in most countries with a medieval history. I found this one by chance in Tuscany some years ago and is well worth a visit if you're in the area.
