For certain it doesn't look like that now and hasn't done for a long time. I wonder if it still exists? Portsmouth area?

One thing I can say which may provide a clue is, during the seaman's strike in 1966 we were moored off there for a bloomin week, not allowed ashore - a bit frustrating for a young lad of 16 just back from Australia, with money to spend and loins ready for girding ;o}

What was particularly galling was, as we were carrying a non-perishable cargo i.e. wool, we were one of the last allowed into Tilbury, all the other ships were given priority.

We could see the bright lights ashore, close yet so far away!
