I am on NTL Broadband via my set top box. I have been upgraded to 2mb but because my set top box is a Pace it will only accept up to 1mb.

I have NTL engineer coming in tomorrow (Tuesday) to fix it!!!

I have asked to be connected via a modem and not the set top box. Will keep you informed (if I can).

You'll be off no more than a couple of hours, if that. ntl are quite good as mole44 says although their TV viewing hardware lacks something to be desired, but anyway.

Phone call from NTL yesterday advising me that an engineer will call between 1230 and 1700 today Tuesday.

0930 this morning engineer is standing on the doorstep. Unfortunatley, he hasn't been given the correct stuff to do the switchover. Apparently he only does Set top box replacements not modems. I have to have it done by the "installation" team who are in Edmonton. I am in Norwich 140 miles away.

So he has to cancel the order and I have to ring NTL and start over again.

Oh, well. I will tick this thread and post again when I have had the job done.

Thought you might have been going into dock,...had me worried for a while...

same thoughts as Pidder and I was going to suggest soap on a rope as opposed to the easily drop-able variety.
