Got Dell's latest business brochure this morning. In it there is a Dimension 2400 with 2.60Celeron; 256mbDDR; 40gb drive; 17"crt; 10/100 lan; 16xdvd-rom; XP Home and MS Works 7. Graphics and audio integrated.

All for £199

Another £90 you can have Office 2003.

Use Open Office instead :-)

till you add VAT and the expensive delivery charge.

  Mr Mistoffelees 17:43 25 Jun 05

by today's standards that is a very low spec.

  De Marcus 21:33 25 Jun 05

That's a perfectly reasonable spec for any small to medium sized business, unless the receptionist is into doom 3 of course :-))

I agree - the spec is perfectly adequate for business use, and the price point is perfect. I expect the machine to sell well in the small business sector.

The Spec Is almost perfect for us. I am looking to replace 20 machines very soon, and these will be just the job. Vat not a problem obviously, and hopefully I can negotiate some reduction on the delivery charge for so many machines. Back to the spec, as the machines will be on a Domain they will have to come with XP Pro, so that will increase the price somewhat. Hopefully not too much.

suite against Intel - it's plain to see how Dell can achieve such prices.

Not to mention the US tax payers subsidies to Dell! But what the heck, grab the bargains while you can.

Look out for Dell's offers. They regularly do free delivery and double memory. I saw an offer recently for Dimension 3000 model with 15" TFT for £292 inc VAT & delivery. click here for links to current deals.
