Hi, I would like to know your opinions on gambling as a whole. A lottery ticket, an afternoon in the bookies, a trip to Vegas, online betting sites, anything you wish to post.

I'd rather spend my money on a holiday for me, and not one for the Bookie.

Macscouse, to Las Vegas or Monte Carlo.

Jock1e, If you could beat the bookies they would not be there, maybe just this once though.

Gambling, in one form or another, has been around for thousands of years. It will continue to be around for as long as there are human beings on the planet.

It's a fact of life, an aspect of human nature.

FE I agree entirely, I am asking for peoples views on it at the present time.

Humans gamble everything all the time. As a race we are on a winning streak as there are so many of us.

In the long run will we beat the odds - unlikely there is too much against us.

Individuals also gamble constantly, with our health for instance - with what we eat - how we cross the road - the sports we do etc.

Wouldn't it be a boring world if we played it safe all the time.

As for gambling money - how you seen how many casino and bingo adverts there are at the moment?

The whole finance industry seems to be one big gamble :0)

I think that there is currently too much tv advertising for gambling. Ray Winstone's adverts are highly irritating. The worry is that many of these ads are aimed at young men making it easy for them to gamble. The ads play down the risks and entice them in using online methods and apps. Gambling can be addictive and can ruin lives.

Not what I was expecting but very interesting replies.

Regular gamblers always like to tell us of the £100, the £500 and the £1000 wins they pick. But they always conveniently forget to tell us how many losing £10 bets they make that add up to more than they win...

And money is too hard to earn to throw it away to the bookies.
