I have never seen anything like these. The patience and care it must have taken to produce art on such a delicate surface is amazing.

Its a bit like the old mariners and the soldiers in the trenches, who used easy to obtain items to make some extremely splendid things while the hours past by.

The same possibly applies to Leaf, Rice Paper or Silk Cloth Paintings that are available in South East Asia and similar areas.

Not far from where I live is a very large old house, which is now council owned and open to the public. On view are a number of 'embroidery painting' which had been 'made up' by the ladies of the house, at the time. The materials consisted mainly of groomed hair from the household pets plus any wildlife hair and feathers available. Truly great works of art, and no doubt saved many a long and perhaps boring day for the owners and children, while the servants did the medial tasks!.
