If it was to promote business links, perhaps the business community should have stumped up the cash...just a thought.

And seeing as the settlers moved away from Essex would their descendants really want to go back as tourists, seeing as it's become even more primitive since the 17th century.

And why not, our local council seem to favour certain 'jollys' to shanty towns in Nicaragua and other business-friendship linking opportunities in far off places.

Only last year, our council decided to change a meeting from the usual council board room to a more fancy hotel a few miles up the road. I think that cost a few extra £pounds, after all it did include meals and perhaps a few drinks, but at least it made a very difficult day more enjoyable for the selected personnel.

Just think of it as a minor increase on your council tax or some other public funded necessary ;o)

Surely you cannot seriously expect our lords and masters to forgo their jolly's just to save taxpayers a bit of cash. After all think of all the wonderful things they do for us, and the terible sacrifices they make
