Why was it a shock?

She's been ill for some time.

She had heart failures in 2004 and last month.

Years ago I used to dread phoning my mum as there was always a good chance she would start the conversation with "guess who died yesterday." She was just of that age when all her old cronies and childhood stars were popping off.

It looks like I have now reached that age myself. It seems that every week another goes. Last week, Jet Harris and now dear old Elizabeth. At least I have the memories which I would rather have than not have, so in a way they are all still with us.

I'm not one to speak ill of the dead, but I always thought her acting a tad wooden.

Well no one lives forever and her films will still be shown and tributes are still pouring in alas she was great good looking when she was young as Cleopatra a Hollywood icon for those who remember her.
