"A simple fence made from wood, wire and beehives can deter elephants from raiding farmers' crops.

A pilot study in Kenya has shown that such fences reduce the number of raids by elephants by almost half.

The work is the culmination of previous research which showed elephants are naturally scared of African honey bees. "

I thought a few mice would do the same trick ;)

Interesting.
Several other methods have been tried in the past including electric fences.
Single strand electric fences had little effect. When upped to three strands the deterrent seemed to work although the beehive solution is probably easier to supply and maintain.
Another trick that works well is to dig a deep trench on the edge of the forest.Again, very labour intensive.
What an ingenious and inventive idea.
