DjVu - Is it as good as it used to be?

For those of you who don't know, DjVu is an image and text packaging format that can be used for presentations.

There is a useful pesentation on publishing PDF files click here and some free software to create your own DjVu files.

The DjVu file is significally smaller than the PDF file. You can view DjVu files in Irfan View with the latest plugins.

They work much like a multipage TIFF, but seem to give much better compression. I got 325 K compared to 2.9 mbytes for a 40 page scanned timetable. Quallity was acceptable, though not quite as good.

Is this just another file format that will soon be forgotten, or do some of you use it regularly?
