Crossrail bodies unearthed

Do I assume that the skeletons which have been unearthed near Farringdon tube station during the digging for the Crossrail project were passengers kept waiting for a Circle line train? Crossrail

Not really lol. Facinating to learn, that this burial ground could have been the first stage in the planning to cope with the Black Death. They knew it was traveling fast accross Europe and it was only a matter of time for it to reach here.

The spread of the plague across Europe and it's social impact on land management is featured well Ken Follett's World Without End, also recently made into a C4 mini series, but with almost half of the best material missing.

Can the DNA from these poor souls be traced forward to some of us today? Or would we have to have a national DNA data base to accomplish that? Maybe we should have a national or even an international DNA data base, that would help all these people who are deep in to Genealogy. I have never had enough interest to delve in to my own family history, but other relatives have done so and come up with some weird results. We could all be in for some surprises.

Should we start calling you Your Majesty?

  Bing.alau 13:36 PM 16 Mar 13

Not quite, but it seems we are from good stock. My niece traced us back to the bodyguard of Robert the Bruce. Was he the one who watched the spider going up and down or was he the one who sat in the sea at Bognor commanding the tide to turn back, or maybe the one who burned the cakes?

Shows how much notice I took of history lessons at school, doesn't it?.

Robert the Bruce, wasn't he the one with a split personalty.

  john bunyan 13:55 PM 16 Mar 13

Bruce - Spider Knut - Bognor - actually Bosham - Alfred - Cakes

As you well know, but all probably false! The other night a famous personality - so famous I forget who- had his DNA traced way back, and found he was 5% Neanderthal. BTW I think in the case of these London plague victims it is the plague DNA they are looking at rather than that of the victims.
