our one is the swivel office type with adjustable height.

every now and then the height will give way and the seat of the chair will drop suddenly. Is there a way to stop this never had it with previous chair.

Any suggestions as to how to go about this?

The shops that sell the chairs aren't really interested, only in selling a new chair.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of those many things that are almost as cheap to buy new as to get repaired - (digicams, printers, etc).

having trouble finding somewhere to check on re gassing.

If you are the only one useing the chair then a 'jubilee clip' will do the job.
