Looks like being a genocidal dictator is a bit like owing millions to a bank.
Owe your bank a tenner and they'll write to you asking for the tenner back, and for an extra 20 quid for the letter.
Owe a bank millions and they'll write to you offering a bit more money.
So it's the same way with killing people.
Kill one person and when you're caught you get a spell in chokey, but kill a few thousand and the international community get together and find you a luxury pad somewhere in a nice warm place, where you can enjoy the pallets of money you shipped out ready for the inevitable day you had to leg it...
Probably better to get him out now - leave him there and the problems continue more people die on both sides
"kill a few thousand and the international community get together and find you a luxury pad somewhere in a nice warm place, where you can enjoy the pallets of money you shipped out ready for the inevitable day you had to leg it..."
Except that isn't what is on offer in this case.
David Cameron made it clear that "he would favour Mr Assad "facing the full force of international law and justice".
It makes good sense to try to get this man out of Syria. The longer he stays there, the longer the widespread killing of Syrian citizens will go on. Once he's removed the country can begin the process of establishing a form of democratic government.
The sad thing is that when Assad goes, the two/three Communities will come head to head, in a war that will almost certainly lead to genocide.
They, the various Moslem Sects, are worse than the Northern Irish Protestant/Catholic idiots, and all in the name of religion.
David Cameron made it clear that "he would favour Mr Assad "facing the full force of international law and justice"
He said this after being confronted for his earlier statement - Cameron speaks too soon, he should have thought this through first.
Also, he only said "he would favour", so shifting him to a friendly nation isn't out of the question

The situation at the moment is tantamount to genocide.
Ever since man started worshipping things there have been wars over which object should be worshipped...
Load of rubbish primarily because he states one kind of 'leader' should leave and face the full force of law,if caught, and ignores other brutal regimes either because they are 'friendly' or their countries have no resources worth fighting over.
Pinochet was absolved of any crime so why should Assad be found wanting, when western leaders are charged then i will agree.
alan14: When Assad goes, the Power Struggle will be horrendous.
At the present the death toll is in the hundreds, maybe a few thousands.
When he goes, the death toll may easily rise into the tens of thousands.
The Sect that he commands, The Alawites, is a fairly small section of the Shia Sect. Should he leave, the Alawis may be wiped out. Not necessarily only by the Sunnis, but also by other Shia Groups that have been suppressed at his instigation. By wiped out, I mean killed, men, women and children.
By Power Struggle, think: Roman Empire BC/AD, 14th Century Europe, 17th Century America (Indian Tribes) and 18th Century Africa (Slave Trade).
The new dominating Power will remove all remaining members of the previous leading group. Once upon a time the old Rulers were put into Slavery. That is no longer available/acceptable so the only alternative will be destruction.
I hope not, but it is highly likely, unless Russia and America can exercise sufficient political clout to stop them. I do not believe that they can as they have had a singular lack of success with the Taliban.
The history of Lebanon revisited upon Syria because of rancid 'tribalist' and religious sectarian forces.
Are you implying that Assad should be saved or supported in order to prevent a suicidal civil war that would or could be worse than Iraq..?
