I hope Ofcom investigate this thoroughly. I absolutely disagree with this quote from the article

"Spookcall founder Royce Brisbane defended the service today, saying he had sought advice on whether the caller ID spoofing was legal under UK law prior to launching the service. He told The Register: "It should be up to the person you're calling to make sure you're who you say you are." "

How can the person receiving the call possibly check the identity of who is making the call before answering? I strongly wish that the 141 prefix where you can withhold your number would be withdrawn.

Anyone wishing to call my house or mobile should be willing to divulge their number, or don't call me. I would be quite happy to be able to automatically reject all calls where the number is withheld.

Sounds well dodgy to me, hopefully this will be easy to legislate against...

to legislate to make caller ID spoofing illegal.

It seems to me to make commonsense
to legislate to make caller ID spoofing illegal.

This government seem to be able to legislate anything to get tax from it.
