and I've seen he extent to which the internet has permeated Chinese society, especially in the big cities, and especially amongst the young. It's hardly surprising, in a country where information has for many years been something that trickled down from the State leaders and via the state newspapers.

Suddenly ordinary citizens have access to vast amounts of information, and to computer games and software applications that were unknown only a few years ago.

When you go there you get a real sense that the country is truly awakening, and that in the not-so-distant future China is going to influence the world in a very big way.
