I knew that aleady. But what is the price of beer in Russia? In Scotland (Glasgow) it's about £2.50. If I went into a downtown Moscow pub what would I pay?

The 'measures' don't take effect till 2013 and look pretty tame. The British Government make a lot of money from tax on alcohol. Does Russia have a similar tax regime with regard to booze?

Blackhat - Thanks for that - will pencil in Moscow for a short holiday next year, perhaps.(But it says it is very expensive for the other necessities of life. :o)

Never mind Russia, does it count as one of your "five a day"?

morddwyd: yes, it does. And if you drink 5 pints of beer a day, you need eat no fruit or vegetables. Just meat, from a bbq ;)
