Bad cover versions

  Kate B 23:29 14 Feb 07

I'm not someone who routinely writes off cover versions - they can be great. But my ears are bleeding as I listen to Take That's cover of an already pretty bad song, "Total Eclipse of the Heart", a Big-Hair-Ballad originally done by Bonnie Tyler in the 1980s.

It's probably the worst cover I've ever heard, possibly even worse than Ronan Keating's cover of the sublime "Iris".

What's the worst cover in your opinion? And the best?

I did Take That a disservice: the cover is by Westlife. It's still dire.

Oh, I liked that one, alB! Clever and witty, I thought.

Best cover has to be Joe Cocker cover of the Beatles "With a little help from my friends".

Girls aloud and sugababes' version of Run DMC's Walk This Way....

If it wasn't a charity record I'd cry.

So bad I can't remember which boy band did it but the original was Father & Son by cat stevens.

I think I need a new forum.

I've been trying to think of that one. Heard it on the way home from work the other day and had to switch the radio off in despair. Simply awful!

Who is the charity? My money is on the singers.
