Just heard bbc weatherman give this forecast.
I believe him but how can he be so precise?

rain gauges

Hmm its called the Lake District....

I wonder why?

  Strawballs 12:24 05 Feb 11

Would you have questioned it if he had 10cm of rain?

  Aitchbee 12:27 05 Feb 11

If the rainfall measurment is given in mm, are we(the people who listen to bbc weather reports) going to be given actual readings on local rain gauges(like 97mm, 33mm, 2mm, 445mm, or rounded up to "nice" numbers like 100mm, 150mm, 200mm? What happened to inches?

  Aitchbee 12:33 05 Feb 11

10cm of rain is better! and acceptable.

in a wet part of the country. Slow day at the office?

Same thing

I couldn't be anything like as accurate, but as a resident of Cumbria I can confirm it rained an awful lot as the beck opposite my home was ready to burst its banks.

Should it have been a 1dm of you round it up? Or if rounded up to the metre it would not have rained at all.
