Is there any way of setting Windows 7, IE8, so that the zoom level is,say, 85%? Each time i start a session I change the zoom level from 100% to 85% but I wonder if I could stored this preference so that it happens automatically.
Thanks for any advice.

This is for IE7 - but I think it may well be the same on IE8

In IE8 just click the zoom arrow ( near the clock) and choose custom and set the percentage zoom to 85 from the default 100

That will simply revert to 100% next time you open IE8.

Just set it to 85 on mine and it has stayed at that even after a re-boot.

Then if you look on Advanced Internet Options you should find that as per my link the box beside "Reset Zoom level to 100% for new windows and tabs" is not checked.

Assuming this has been sorted don't forget to tick the box and click the Resolved button.
