Zone Alarm Security Alert in IE

My wife’s computer will not open IE any longer and Zone alarm reports the following:

ZONE ALARM SECURITY ALERT
IE Crash Detection is trying to communicate with c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IExplore.exe by opening its process.
Application: iedw.exe
Allow____ Deny____

When she tries to open IE it fails and sends a report to Microsoft. (That should help....right!)

From past computer problems she is paranoid and does not download or open anything she is not expecting, but I see some postings on the net that say the iedw.exe can be located in a number of places but problems with it are most likely a worm or Trojan horse, although at the same time it is also a standard needed windows file.

She is running WinXP Pro SP2

How can I tell if this is the problem and what should I do?

Have a look here. It may be a known issue:
