Bought a pocket drive and downloaded a.zip file as a driver.

Have you extracted the files from the zip file?

Get Winzip click here to open the zip file.

Right click the inf file which should be in there and select Install.

Got winzip. unzipped the folder , found 4 files
the .inf file (3kb)
a .sys file (18kb)
a.pdf file (9kb)
and an uninstall file

I clicked on the inf file selected instal but nothing.

tried reloading the device and pointing to the folder with all the files, but windows cant find the driver.
any ideas

Yes, get Adobe Reader click here and read what the pdf file says.

sorry VoG its actually a .pdr file.

The properties of the .sys file say it is the device driver but still cant install it. If I try to open it i get asked for a program to associate it with ??

When you unzipped it, did you extract the files to a folder? If not, create a new folder (anywhere) and unzip all of the files to that folder. Then try right click on the inf file and Install again.

Try clicking on "Display all drivers" when you connect up the drive, and then force the computer to use the downloaded driver.

To cut a long story short, vendor couldn't instal the driver either so I have a new pocket drive (different make) that came with its own cd.

Thanks all who chipped in
