I've downloaded several Winzip files, but as soon as i attempt to open them, i get the following message.Unknown file format, the file is either corrupt or damaged.I've downloaded the very latest version of Winzip, and also i've tried downloading the same file from a different computer, and the problem goes away.I must be doing something wrong on my home PC, but can't think what it could be.I'm using Windows XP.Thanks in advance.

Have you tried using XP's own utility?

Right click on the zip file and choose Open With then Compressed (zipped) Folders

Try an alternative (free) zip program - I use AlZip and it seems to me to work very well. click here
