zip file part numbers

  qalyn 10:16 03 Dec 05

I have recently encountered .zip files with part numbers, example "file", numbers can be anything up to 005 (observed). My computer is unable to recognise these files as .zip files and, theefore, I cannot unzip them.
Can someone please advise me how to deal with such files. Is there a plug-in to deal with this problem?

You generally have to try to open the first one and the zip program will ask for the last in the sequence.

What zip program are you using? I know Winzip can deal with them ok but I don't know about XP's built in zip handling.

They been split with another program.

You need a batch file to recombine them

Open Notepad

type in

copy /b "file" + "file" "file"

copy /b "file" + "file" "file"

copy /b "file" + "file" "file"

copy /b "file" + "file" "file"

and save as Recombine.bat in the same directory as the zip.00x files

Then run the Recombine.bat file and it should make file which is the complete file.
