After already typing a long list using word, I now would like to place it in alphabetical order and maybe number the list.

can I do it without having to type list again please.

in word under table tab, select A-Z sort, box will open titled sort text this will give you the options you need

Numbering or bullets can be added from the toolbar Icon but I think you will need to use the table's function to sort in alphabetical order.

If this is the only way then open a new document and use the tables function then copy/paste original text over to new document in any order then click on the "Sort" button.

There may be an easier way so please wait for confirmation. j

Just tried it in word and it works as SANTOS7 says. Type away in any order then go to "tables/Sort" and it will do what you require even though you have not used tables in the first instance.
