Is your protection hampering connectivity?

Twice this week when 'firing up' although the'Connected' bubble came up I could not get on line to either the E-mail Client or the browser.
I made all the checks of the various panels.
Disconnected and reset the router, still nothing.
Played around with Run/ CMD and the IP address, Nothing.
Left it, came back and had a flash thought- switch off the protection.
It all worked. Mail came in - Browser found PCA My Postings.

This morning it happened again - this time I switched off the protection- and it all happened
In each case I re instated protection immediately.
As this is an occasional occurrence, and I could see nothing untoward in the protection settings- what is happening?

When was the last time you cleared out all your cookies and temp internet files?

I have two systems on this machine- [An accident of which I have posted before-] The latest loading I intend to keep for internet use only and the original- remove from internet-Belt and Braces- have not yet done that]]
In each case the No connect event happened.

I do run Ccleaner in each case at least once a week, however - but it is not cast in stone -so perhaps it is time to have a clean once more.
