Yellow exclamation mark in device Manager

Hi, thanks to all who replied to my earlier post on driver needed. I haven't ticked it as resolved because there aint no change.
AST P.series laptop, Win 98. No matter what I try I cant remove the exclamation mark from the PCIC or compatible PCMCIA controller in device manager. I have tried updating the driver but it keeps saying that the best driver is already installed. I have tried removing all the entries for the PCMCIA card and letting windows find and instal new hardware. (I have to instal the PCIC or compatible PCMCIA controller manually). In 'Safe Mode' there are no exclamation marks in 'Device Manager. This is preventing the modem connecting (I think). Grateful for any help. Cheers, Bill

Can you try another PCMCIA card as this one may have the fault and not your computer?
