XP64 and XP Home Dual Boot

  dms05 10:10 05 May 06

I've installed XP 64bit on my Acer Aspire 5003 (AMD Turon 1.8GHz) and it offered a dual boot option with my existing XP Home. It all works fine. I would however appreciate the default dual boot option to be the XP Home rather than XP 64. Does anyone know if it's possible to change the order or failing that remove the option and boot into XP Home.

Also anyone tried to completely remove XP 64 and leave their original OS only?

Read this carefully. If you make a mistake editing your boot file your system will not boot up again.

There are examples of easier options though.

The link suggested running msconfig then using the dialogue box to select BOOT.INI. This allowed me to change the order of the Dual Boot option and also select XP Home as default rather then XP 64. So it was exactly what I was looking for.
