XP2600+ speed

Hi all,

I have an Athlon XP2600+, thoroughbred core.
My set up is win XP, 512DDR, gigabyte GA-7vt600-L motherboard and a geforce4 MX 440 (64mb) gfx card.

I was just curious what the clock multiplier and system bus should be set to.

It is currently set at 167 system bus and 11.5 clock multiplier giving me a speed of 1919.57mhz, is this correct?

If it is the 333Mhz chip then you should have your multiplier set at 12.5.

This will give you a clock speed of 2.083Ghz.

It's an amd link so don't know if it will work :)

Hi Bsod,

yes it is the 333Mhz chip, just used aida32 and it says the cpu is Athlon XP-A, 1919mhz (5.75 x 334) 2600+

Do I set the multiplier in the bios? If so how?
This is my 1st build

This is probably the Barton core with 512KB L2 Cache

Cheers so far guys but i'm a little slow....

So my multiplier should be set to 12.5, how do I change this in the Bios?

Not familiar with this board.

Well the bios usually picks the correct multiplier setting on setup. This is usually automatic.Look for something like frequency\voltage control and see if there is any reference to the multiplier settings.

Usually they are manually controlled by a series of jumper switches on the motherboard. The default is usually auto. You can manually configure this to the settings you want. Look in the motherboard book for multiplier switches. On most boards there are a bank of on/off switches.

Cheers bsod

I had checked the frequency\voltage and the fsb is correct, no multiplier settings on there.

Is anybody familiar with this mobo?

is your fsb set to 166?
