XP & Vista on 2 sata hd's

Hi all,

Have decided to give vista a chance to impress me, so have searched and read the few articles/posts about "dual booting" xp and vista on 2 hd,s but they all seem to mention master/slave configuration, but nothing about sata drives.

I have a 200gb sata hd with xp home installed, and have bought another 200gb sata hd which I want to put vista on as a "dual boot" system.

Will I have the option to choose which drive to use if both hd,s are installed when I insert the vista dvd or if I take out the xp drive, put in the empty drive and install vista on it and then put back the xp drive will that work.

So many questions so little time ;0))

All info gratefully received.

Regards Bob

make sure the XP SATA drive is the boot drive in the bios.

Boot to XP desktop and insert the Vista disk.

Select new a new installation for Vista and NOT an upgrade.

It will now load files, reboot and install Vista on the drive you pick.

It will put a boot loader on XP and Vista will be the default operating system and it will give you 30 seconds to either select the " an older version of windows " (XP) or load the default (VISTA).

Thanks paul€,

As you say, easy, when you know. I looked around for ages trying to get an explanation nothing came near as clear as yours.

thanks again.
