XP start up problem

Manager The General Purpose USB Driver (adildr.sys) service failed to start due to the following error: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

I have been having some trouble with XP starting up, it will get part way through a boot up and freeze, or nearly finish and the mouse will freeze, and on looking at the Error log the above message is all I can find.Is this the cause of my problem?? Once I have the system running its fine for the rest of the time.Any help would be much appriecated..........
