XP standby

Since only a few weeks ago when I want to enter STAND BY after clicking START and "Turn off computer" the following message appears:

The Service 'Print spooler' is preventing the machine from entering Standby. Try stopping the service and try again. System Standby failed."

I've tried to locate the service arrangements, but am frustrated. Any advice, please?

Hi, In Control Panel>Printers and Faxes, right-click on your printer and then check in Preferences and in Properties to turn of Print Spooling (probably under an Advanced tab, but not all printers are the same).

The print Spooler service can be stopped and/or disabled from the Services configuration utility.
Go to Start > Run > and type in
scroll down the list to find 'Print Spooler'
click on it and select Stop the service option, that is in blue text, displayed in the area to the left.
