XP SP2 missing

My elderly aunt was given a new E-Machines computer as a gift about 18 months ago. She is afraid to move from dial up to broadband, so obviously everything works at snail's pace.

Just recently, she has been getting a message telling her that her computer is at risk and needs to download XP SP2.

This seems very strange in view of the age of the computer and the fact that she has had it for so long before getting this message.

She attempted to download the pack from the web site but was horrified when she was told that the download would take over 4 hours! Regardless of the cost, she rarely has her computer on for long before the connection drops.

Has anyone any suggestions as to why SP2 is suddenly missing and is it possible to purchase an installation disk for this programme?

You can download the network install on your computer and burn it to disk for her. Otherwise she can pay M$ for it. However Im sure you wont mind the few minutes download

Thanks Astec123, I never thought of this option -downloading the programme now.
