XP Service Pack 3

I see from the PC Advisor news letter that there is a down loadable version of Service Park 3, but I will not be able to download it and save on a CD or my second harddrive for future use when I have to re-install the OS (again) when all the C drive info will be lost, which no doubt I will soon or later and then the SP3 will have to be re installed if it is still on the MS website.

But I also read in the same article that downloading and saving will be possible is the Registry is edited, but they have not published this info, does anyone know where it may be found?

the latest sp3 rc2 slows down the pc. gofor the earlier version sp3 rc1 it boots the pc faster and you can the download to a disc, whereas rc2 you cannot as it tied to ms updates after you download the script.

Unzipping the registry script allows the MS update site to access your registry and decide which bits of SP3 RC2 you need.
