AFTER MY PC HAS SHUTDOWN WINDOWS XP, THE POWER LIGHT, THE HDD LIGHT AND THE CDRW LIGHTS ALL STAY ON ( BUT DIMMED ).
TURNING OFF AT THE MAINS IS OBVIOUSLY OK BUT WHEN I SWITCH ON AGAIN THE LIGHTS RE-APPEAR.
IF I LEAVE THE PC GO INTO THE POWER SAVE MODE ALL IS WELL AND I END UP WITH THE NORMAL BLINKING POWER LIGHT.
HIBERNATION MODE IS NOT SET

STRANGE - COLIN

First thing to check, I think, is that your earthing is okay -- if you can, eliminate the mains lead and the wall socket by seeing if the same thing happens with a diffent lead and a different socket. Then check connections inside the PC -- have you changed anything recently?

Then we need to start thinking about a PSU problem.

Are you using a lead, if yes try to replace it with a surge protecter as i think this problem is dues to the power circulation not being correct. Might be CPU or power supply.
