Since installing xp recently i'm having difficulty installing some of my games that worked ok with win98. When I try to install Sims and another game I get the error message 'error 112, windows can't decompress and copy the files' etc. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to solve the problem? Sims is not a very old game (2001) so I assumed it would work with xp. Any help would be appreciated.

This is a setup error usually caused because the program is trying to unpack the compressed files and runs out of space. This may be caused by insufficient space in the Windows\Temp folder. You could try deleting the contents of the Windows\Temp folder or free up some space on the hard drive where the Temp folder is located.

Where would I find the windows/temp folder that Marvin refers to above? I did a disk clean but the problem still remains. Any ideas?

have you tried right clicking program, properties, compatibility, click, run this program in compatibility mode for, tick box then choose which system to run it from might help! Nik
