XP Pro and Internet problem

Have installed XP Pro without a hitch but have a problem connecting to the internet via BT Broadband.

The modem has installed ok and is showing connected - but I cannot view any web pages.

The BT healthcheck shows all is right and suggests I ping a couple of sites.

Carrying out a ping test on domain names returns nothing but the same test on an IP address is successful and using IP addresses I can connect to the web without a problem - hence I am here talking to you.

Any help would be appreciated.
