XP Pro freezes at startup screen

I have just tried to install XP Pro on a relations Packard Bell computer (PB 533), installation goes without a hitch until I get to the XP logo with the blue lines going across the screen, at this point the screen just freezes and nothing happens. On a reboot I can get to safe mode but that is all.

Any ideas please

If you can get in with Safe Mode check MSCONFIG from the run box. Diagnostics

It is more than likely hardware driver problem, so try removing all hardware that's not needed to setup WinXP, then put these back one by one.
