I have a copy of XP pro, I'm currently running win ME and I tempted to install the XP. I'm I running any risks by using a copy???
If it's a PIRATE copy then dump it. You won't be able to use it anyway.QUESTION - is it a pirate copy ?
I'm assuming it is.
Yes you are at risk of being prosecuted for having pirate software so I would not install it.Buy an upgrade version of XP HE for about £80 and be legal.
Point taken! Thanks.
If you go ahead and install a pirate copy of XP you will not be able to update or patch it, you will not get any support from Microsoft when things go wrong and you definitely run the risk of prosecution.Forget it, it's really not worth it.
Towunder - I just installed a (legal) upgrade to XP Pro from ME and I'm beginning to wish I'd kept windows ME - XP has managed to destroy quite a lot of my programmes.
You mean you didn't run the XP compatibility test first ? click here
