XP pausing/beeping

ive got annoying little problem with xindows xp pausing for a few seconds then go back to normal straight after.

the mouse stops and the computers makes two bleep like noises, does it while playin games driving me potty.

Ive closed all programs in back ground and it does it randomly, i av'nt installed any new hardware but installed new games/programs but all these have been fine before.

If this is two distinct bleeps it sounds like memory failure try reseating the ram sticks on the motherboard. Or, if you can, download prime95 to test your ram/processor/motherboard its free and really puts your hardware through its paces.

RAM failures don't give beeps when XP is running - because unless you have ECC or Parity RAM, there is no possible way to check for a RAM failure when the OS is running.

Beeps for RAM failure can only ahppen during the POST (Power On Self Test for those who aren't in the know).

Some things that can cause bleeps when the system is running, are - power supplies out of tolerance, over temperature, fan running slow.

Other than that it's down to some sort of software issue - make sure you've got no other programs running when you're gaming.
