xp password?

hi ive inherited a laptop with xp professional installed,it is password protected, i tried insafe mode but this is also password protected.
xp disc hasnt turned up to date,is there anything i can do or is it pretty much defunk.also a thought is it poss to remove xp proffessional without password and disc and install xp home.

unless the bios is also password protected, you will be able to boot into bios and change boot order to cd-rom first, and, ensuring your xp home cd is in the drive, format and install this operating system.

...open the case, remove the button battery for at least an hour. Replace it, then reboot. The machine will come back to factory defaults..
