hi when i turn on my pc it comes up with start in safe mode/normal/last known. then goes to win xp screen and then goes blue screen and error can someone help?

Not without knowing what the error is.

I assume it says STOP and then the reason for it on the top line.

Further down there will hopefully be the item causing your problem. It will probably have the .sys extension and then some numbers after it. Can you post this information please.

yeah it says REGISTRY_ERROR the STOP half way down with the nos 0x00000051 then a load of numbers in brackets
hope this helps in resolving my problem

If you have a XP disk with SP2, or a restore disk, then you could do a repair using the link below:

Restore from recovery console

boot from the XP CD. Start Windows Setup and press R to access the recovery console. Select your Windows installation, then type the administrator password – press Enter if there isn't one.
Now enter the following commands:

CD C:\
CD "system volume information\_resto~1"
DIR

You'll see a list of restore point folders with names such as RP1, RP2 and so on. Pick the restore point you wish to use, using the folder date stamps to guide you. Enter the commands:

CD RPx (the restore point you chose)
CD SNAPSHOT

This takes you into the folder containing the restore point snapshot files. Copy the Registry backups so that they overwrite the existing Registry files.

COPY _Registry_machine_system C:\Windows\System32\Config\System
COPY _Registry_machine_software C:\Windows\System32\Config\Software
COPY _Registry_machine_sam C:\Windows\System32\Config\Sam
COPY _Registry_machine_security C:\Windows\System32\Config\Security
COPY _Registry_user_.default C:\Windows\System32\Config\Default

Type the command exit to close the Recovery Console and restart the PC.

Then do as above from the c:\ prompt.

when i put in an xp disk and try product recovery, even doing full recovery wont allow it to work, it just goes straight to blue screen saying REGISTRY_ERROR.
when i try to boot in safe mode it starts but gets stuck at :-
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\agpCPQ.sys
whats next???
