xp new install

Hi All,

I want to reinstall xp pro on my system, but before I do so, I want to backup any passwords stored for web sites. I have looked in the files/settings transfer software but there are no mention to these. I remember in 98 I could just backup any pwl files and restore them. Is there such a thing with XP and do I need to save the associated cookies?

Many thanks

Any passwords are stored as cookies for websites. I have consulted my bible of xp with no help...sorry

I've done a reinstall of XP Pro today and everything that was there before I done it was there after. But that does NOT mean you should not backup! If you have a CD writer, you could always backup your passwords to that.

but you havnt said what your procedure was?
did you A: use the file/settings transfer s/ware
or B: backup manually your cookies etc
or C: any other specific password files

Many thanks
