XP Malicious software removal tool

During Windows update I see Malicious software removal tool included .
Is this automatic or am I supposed to run it
manually , if so how ??

Just allow it to install along with any other essential updates which may be applicable to your system.

When it installs it usually scans your computer as well.So no need to run it manually unless you think that you may have problems.

It sounds good but whether or not anybody uses it much is another matter. I think it`s one of those things that like Windows Defender, everyone has heard of but don`t seem to have much faith in.

Is there any point in running this if you have an anti-virus program like AVG running?
I don't accept automatic Windows updates after a crash which the PC "doctor" thought was caused by Microsoft.I now install manually and have declined the Malicious Software Removal Tool.
