i,v been using xp pro for 6 months as a single user with an administrator account.i have now added a second user only account for my son to use however when the system starts up/boots ,it opens my administator account by default.the welcome/logon screen only appears if i then log off and switch users.how do i get the welcome/logon screen to appear at start up/boot.i know this must be possible as it does this on my second system.

Go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Logon and Logoff Options, select "Use welcome screen"

thanks for advice but already tried that

what happens exactly when windows starts?

does it just boot straight to the desktop bypassing the welcome screen?

have you ever used Tweakui? this i think has an option to bypass the welcome screen.not sure about reversal though.

no never used it but ill try anything once!

ok,the only thing i can think of is to set up passwords for each user in controlpanel/user accounts

click your user name or change an account and set up a password.do this for both accounts.

you now should be able to use the welcome screen.

but you will need to enter the password after clicking on the account name.

already got passwords on both accounts but it still opens mine at boot without requiring me to enter my password. comeback win 98!

have you used any tweak programs lately for windows? as some have this option and may be causing it.
