xp keeps running chkdsk on start up

Every time windowsXP starts it runs chkdsk on one of my partitioned hard drive, and only one partitioned drive.

How can I stop it running chkdsk

I ran regedit and "Open up the reg and find the below key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
Change the BootExecute entry from: autocheck autochk * /.........

to:

autocheck autochk *

But my keys are already marked as "autocheck autochk *

any other ideas ???

From start type run then cmd then type "fsutil dirty query C:" do the same with the drive letter of the partition. Is the drive dirty? if not click here and read the instructions at the top of the page.
Scroll down to:
82. Disable or Enable Check Disk Upon Boot
Click on Disable.

Post back if the drive is dirty.
