Hi, Does enyone know how to find out what applications are running in the back ground that might be using up memory and causing windows to freeze up? Win 98 ctrl+alt+del would bring up all the applications that are running in the back ground. I have tried this on win xp and end task on prog. that a re runnning but the Hard drivr light keeps flickiring suggesting there is an application or prog. that is still running. Another Q? How do we turn a prog from starting up when win xp starts up becauce msconfig does not work with win xp. Appreciate any feedback on this issues.

2. MSCONFIG does work in XP ! Also check the StartUp group under Programs on the menu

1. Check what services you have running that may be accessing the harddrive - do the Alt+Ctrl+Del thingy and check the Process tab

Are you sure the system isn't getting too hot? Ambient temperatures are already pretty high at this time of the year.

Use Everest or similar to check from Computer>Sensor.

Re Misconfig. It has to be entered in capitals in Run otherwise it doesn't open (at least it won't for me!)

You could try a updated Graphics driver
